The Peak of the Mountain helm is a coveted unique item in Last Epoch, prized for its significant boosts to critical strike chance and attributes, making it especially valuable for high-crit builds. Obtaining this helm requires players to venture into the challenging Lightless Arbor dungeon and defeat its boss, The Mountain Beneath Last Epoch Gold.

How to Get the Peak of the Mountain Helm
To acquire the Peak of the Mountain, players must first gain access to the Lightless Arbor dungeon, which is located in the Ruined Era zone, specifically at the northern part of the Shrouded Ridge. However, entry to this dungeon is locked and requires a special Lightless Arbor Key. These keys are relatively rare and drop from bosses and enemies in endgame activities such as the Arena of Champions and the Monolith of Fate. Because of this, players need to have completed the main campaign before attempting to farm the helm.

Once you have a key, entering the Lightless Arbor consumes one key and allows you to explore the dungeon. The dungeon itself features multiple levels of enemies and culminates in a boss fight against The Mountain Beneath. While the entire dungeon offers various loot, the Peak of the Mountain helm drops exclusively from this boss.

The Mountain Beneath Boss Fight
The Mountain Beneath is a two-phase boss encounter combining physical and poison damage attacks. In the first phase, players must deal with Titan spawns and destroy veins holding Kindlings on each side, then light these Kindlings while dodging attacks. The second phase involves fighting the Stone Titan’s Heart, dodging poison beams and boulders, and managing Flame wraiths.

Successfully defeating The Mountain Beneath at Tier 1 difficulty guarantees a chance to obtain the Peak of the Mountain helm, while higher tiers offer other pieces of the Mountain set. Increasing the dungeon tier raises enemy difficulty but also improves drop rates.

2. Armor: +40 protection against direct damage (not damage over time)  
3. Critical Strike Chance Amplification: Between 240% and 290%, which is multiplicative and especially powerful for builds with already high base critical chance  
4. Attributes: Randomized bonuses between +2 and +5 to Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Attunement, and Vitality
